Lego® Serious Play®
In Theory
A facilitation methodology created by the LEGO Group in the
mid-1990s. The idea was conceived by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen,
thethen CEO of LEGO,who wanted to unlock the creative potential
of his employees and improve strategic planning processes.
The methodology was developed in collaboration with Johan Roos
and Bart Victor, professors at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.
The initial concept was to use LEGO bricks as a tool for business problem-solving and innovation. LSP has evolved and expanded.
Its success lies in its ability to break down hierarchical barriers, promote collaboration, and unlock the creative potential of
individuals and teams.
In Practice
The core principle of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is that everyone has the potential to contribute to the conversation, regardless of their role or background. By engaging in this playful yet structured process, participants are encouraged to think more freely and express their thoughts in a way that traditional methods may not allow.

Testimonials
From recent clients and projects
“Loved the Lego! A really interesting and immersive way to dive into concepts that can seem overwhelming at first”
“The session proved unexpectedly disarming in terms of breaking down any day to day communication barriers between team members. It also really helped elevate discussions around the alignment of personal and practice values.”
“Thank you for the LEGO workshop last week – we all really enjoyed it, and found it super insightful. We’d love to do it again some time”
“Huge thanks for today, it was absolutely brilliant and the team are buzzing. As a manager I felt that it brought the team together on an equal footing and also gave me a valuable insight into how each individual approaches challenges. I thought some of us would struggle (myself included) but that was not the case at all. You immediately put us all at ease and made us feel extremely comfortable. The process has no doubt helped shape our strategic planning in a fun, creative way.”
“By building a lego model of aspects of practice life / values / processes / structures and then stress testing this against a number of scenarios the session really helped us appreciate the value of regular communications in an essentially flexible workplace.”
